Tasks Include:

• supervises employees at racing events
• controls acceptances of horses or dogs, and approves
  equipment changes
• determines violations of racing rules and imposes penalties
• orders the removal of unfit horses or dogs from races
• observes the entry of horses or dogs into starting gates or
  boxes to ensure proper starting arrangements are observed
• observes races, hears and decides protests
• may decide placegetters and post results
• may allocate weight in order to create a competitive contest
• may manage progress of horses through designated classes
