How long does it take to process a parent visa?
 Under
Australia’s family migration program, priority is given
to child and partner visa applications. Parent applications
have a lower processing priority.
As the number of parent visa applications exceeds the number of places available,
applications for the existing parent visa will be held in
a queue, possibly for several years.
There are more places available under the contributory parent scheme and these
applications will be given priority. Processing time for the contributory parent visa is approximately 9 to 15 months.
