On the 16th of March, we alerted our clients advising them that Australian media had reported on changes to skilled migration. Predictably, international press also wrote similar stories that would have lead to a lot of confusion for prospective migrants.

To set the record straight, here is a quick summary of our response:

  • Even if the Government reduces permanent skilled migration this financial year by 18,500 places, skilled migration intake will remain at record levels.
  • The reduction does not affect your eligibility to apply, but may extend processing times. This means that the sooner your application is lodged, the better.

He took a job as a jackeroo and later tried his hand as a share farmer, a role in which people work a property for a share of its income. This didn't work out.
