Forgotten vows remembered!
Believe it or not, its true: New Yorker, Joe Wall 43, proposed to Australian Aradhna Sharma, 30, in Times Square, three months after they met.
Aradhna said yes and returned to Australia and the happy couple applied for a de facto partner visa.
And then things went black.
Ms Sharma underwent surgery for an injured back, after which doctors prescribed a medication that she claims caused her to slowly lose her memory.
One day I was standing in the street and I didn't know anything about myself, she said.
Her family urged Joe to come over on a tourist visa and try to revive her memory. But Ms Sharma said she was actually frightened when Mr. Wall came to visit.
My parents told me it was true but I couldn't believe it, she said.
He showed me photos and told me stories about how he proposed to me in the same spot we met but I just wanted him to go away. Happily, after a couple of months, Ms Sharma said she started to feel something like attraction.
I became familiar with him because we spent so much time together and he seemed nice, she said. Two days before Mr. Walls' visa was to expire he delivered an ultimatum.
He said that if I let him go now then we would probably never see each other again, Aradhna said. Magically, that was the moment she realised she couldn't imagine life without him.
The delighted couple called a priest and just one day before Mr. Walls' tourist visa ran out - they were married in her parents' back yard.
Immigration officials then gave him a bridging visa to stay in Australia while they waited for a spousal visa.
Aradhna says her memory still has not fully recovered, but the Melbourne couple remains happily married.
