A town like Rockhampton
Rockhampton was established in 1858, and is now a thriving city of 74,530, 636 km (395 mi) NW of Brisbane. Rockhampton's climate encourages an outdoor lifestyle with around 300 days of sunshine each year. Thus, it's no surprise that the region has two Olympic size swimming pools, perfect for the city's tropical summer days.
'Rocky', as it's known, is situated on the Fitzroy River, so that fishing, boating and other water sports and recreation are readily available. The city is only a half hour's drive from the Capricorn Coast and Yeppoon beaches. The city also boasts a velodrome as well as a buoyed rowing course on the Fitzroy River.
Day and night tennis courts, and indoor venues for a range of sports are available. Every major code of football is played in the city; it's laid back, fun-loving and abounds with opportunity.
Known as the beef capital of Australia, Rockhampton is where the outback meets the Great Barrier Reef. Rockhampton offers competitive business opportunities and highly regarded educational institutions and a huge range of extracurricular activities for people to participate in the arts, sports, and culture.
Rockhampton is the ideal city to find skilled work, or locate your business in the Central Queensland market.
