Mike Brady: Muso extraordinaire
Songs that set the world's foot tapping. Mike Brady was born in England and moved to Australia when he was 11.
His recording career began in the mid 60's with MPD Ltd (Mike, Pete & Danny), a 1960s group that became one of Australia's most successful, with hits such as
"Little Boy Sad". Mike toured extensively throughout Vietnam during the war.
After MPD Ltd disbanded, he released the occasional National top 10 single. Mike built a career as producer and writer of advertising jingles for television and radio. One job was to record a promotional song for Channel Seven's Football program. This song,
Up There Cazaly, sold in excess of 250,000 records and became the unofficial anthem of Aussie Rules fans.
His song One Day In September is also part of the football language, as is the huge hit
That's What I Like About Football, which he co-wrote and produced Greg Champion.
During the 70's Mike formed his own record label and record production company,
Full Moon Records, and publishing company, Remix Publishing. One hugely successful single was Joe Dolce's
Shuddap You Face, which has been translated into many different languages. Leading artists including Sammy Davis Jnr, Tina Arena, John Farnham, Rene Geyer, and Dianna Trask have recorded many of Mike's songs.
2006 saw Mike in Nashville Tennessee, with a swag of songs he'd written over the years. Mike brought the music tracks back to Melbourne, where he recorded the vocals. The album is entitled
Country to Country and now is available through Shock Records.
