Dear Guest,
Welcome to our most exciting edition of LIAISON to date!
Already in September, we have:
- completed significant updates and training across
our systems and Team to provide you with the latest
advice on recent changes;
- celebrated the launch of our expanded offices to
accommodate a growing team (three new people have
joined);
- The Federal Minister for Immigration and Citizenship,
the Honourable Kevin Andrews MP, attended the opening and
responded directly to the four upper-most issues on the minds
of prospective migrants from over 1200 Client responses to
our last survey.
I was pleased that Minister Andrews not only gave
resounding encouragement that Australia needs migrants,
but that he also undertook to review the age limit for
skilled migration. We will continue to persist on this
and other key issues that matter on your behalf.
The launch was also a wonderful occasion to celebrate migrant
success stories: Damien Leith from Ireland (new Australian citizen
and star singer), Monika Benewal from India and Bettina Harlos
from Germany. Please see our lead story for more details.
I would love to hear what the most important factors are
to you when making the decision to migrate to Australia
If you have been thinking about migrating to Australia,
there has never been a better time.
Best Regards,

Assyl Haidar
CEO

Minister and Music Star attend Office Launch Celebrations
Monday 3 September 2007 will go down as one of the most
significant dates on LIVE IN australia.com's list of achievements.
Federal MP the Hon. Kevin Andrews, Minister for Immigration and
Citizenship, and Australian music sensation Damien Leith joined with
the LIVE IN australia.com team in celebrating the opening of our
newly expanded offices at our Melbourne headquarters.
Irish migrant, Damien Leith, has demonstrated what a land of extraordinary
opportunity Australia can be when he was voted the winner of national music
talent show, Australian Idol 2006. A newly-minted Australian citizen in 2007,
Damien used the LIVE IN australia.com service when he migrated to Australia in
2002 as a Chemist, quickly finding work in Sydney's Newtown area.
The Minister talked about recent and upcoming changes to migration law,
as well as answering a series of questions from overseas skilled workers.
CEO, Assyl Haidar, canvassed LIVE IN australia.com's international network
to elicit the questions of most concern to workers considering coming to Australia.

WA needs 18,000 extra workers every year
As many as 18,000 additional skilled workers will be required in Western
Australia (WA) each year for the next ten years to cope with increased
workforce needs, according to a report released by the state government.
The State Training Board's Beyond the Resources Boom report, launched
today by Education and Training Minister Mark McGowan, said the skills
shortage would remain a feature of the WA labour market due to the strength
of the economy and the ageing workforce.
Among the top performing occupations, in terms of projected annual average
employment growth between 2006 and 2016, are intermediate mining and construction
workers, plumbers, structural construction tradespersons, and related labourers.
18,000 jobs? That's 18,000 opportunities. LIA can help get things under-way for your new life in WA.

How far can a migrant go?
This month, Mr. Frank P Lowy AC.
Frank Lowy's life is a story of triumph against adversity. At 11, he was
a young Hungarian boy trying to function in a family whose father was taken
to Auschwitz and never heard from again. After a testing time in post World War
2 Europe, he arrived here 50 years ago with hardly a dollar to his to name.
Now, he is one of Australia's most successful businessmen and is a 'mover and shaker'
in many cultural movements.
How did he start off? Frank and the late John Saunders started a
delicatessen at Sydney's Town Hall. Then, in 1958, they built a shopping
centre at Blacktown, in Sydney's west, and from this auspicious beginning,
Frank Lowy grew Westfield into one of the biggest shopping centre empires in
the world. Today, he is Executive Chairman Westfield Group, founder and chairman
of the Lowy Institute for International Policy, a member of The Brookings Institution's
International Advisory Council, and is chairman of Football Federation Australia.
In fact, he was the driving force behind Australia's highly anticipated
Hyundai A-League, a revolutionary national soccer competition that kicked
off in August 2005, with the goal of building an infrastructure to make
Australia competitive in world football (soccer).
Frank Lowy is an exceptional man, but he is just one the thousands
of migrants who have taken advantage of the opportunities that exist in this unique land.
We would love to add your name to this segment one day, Guest.
Our Advisors can help you take the first big step.

Melbourne's dynamic Asian influences
Over the past five years more than 182,000 migrants, including 47,000 people
born in China and India, have augmented Melbourne's population of around 4 million.
Suburbs such as Clayton and Dandenong have become Little Delhis and Beijings,
with new arrivals joining established communities.
Last year, the Indian-born population in the City of Monash was up 54 per cent
on the 2001 Census, according to previously unpublished ABS figures. A similar
increase was found in the City of Greater Dandenong, while the leafy eastern suburbs
of Boroondara Council welcomed 2,620 Indians, an 80 per cent jump over five years.
About 24,000 Chinese, including those born in Hong Kong, have made Melbourne their
home since 2001 and have toppled the British-born as the top migrant group in the City
of Whitehorse, which includes Box Hill, Blackburn and Mitcham. They also top the list
of new migrants in Monash and the City of Manningham, which includes Doncaster,
Bulleen and Templestowe.
Monash University population expert Dr Bob Birrell said Melbourne's ethnic landscape
was changing rapidly. It lured about a quarter of the 160,000 migrants who came to
Australia in 2006-07.
LIVE IN australia.com is proud to have assisted so many Indian and Chinese Nationals secure their Australian visa.

A Town like Salisbury
Salisbury is situated 25 kilometres north of Adelaide. It houses a population of more
than 110,000, in an area of 161 square kilometers, stretching from the beaches at the
Gulf Saint Vincent to the Adelaide Hills.
The terrain is mostly flat with the Little Para River winding its way through the district
to the sea. It's predominantly a residential area but also has substantial industrial,
commercial and rural areas. Salisbury is home to the important Parafield airport, many parks,
reserves, walking trails and wetlands. Horticultural enterprises (mainly vegetable growing)
are located on the western fringes of the urban development.
In more recent years Salisbury has become known for its industry, technology and environmental
endeavours. It has gained international recognition for developing wetlands technology, especially
at Parafield Airport and Edinburgh.
The Salisbury area has expanded dramatically with changes in transport, population growth,
technology, immigration, and close proximity to the City of Adelaide. The area has 21 pre-schools,
27 primary schools, 10 secondary schools, 2 TAFE campuses and 1 university campus.
If you would like to check out the attractions of Salisbury – and Adelaide generally – contact LIA today.

Aussie Surprise of the Month
You don't automatically associate Australia with great cars!
While most people know about Peugeot, Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai
and the world's other automotive giants, few would have heard of
Holden, a General Motors owned Australian company deeply involved
in the automotive business since the 1920s.
For decades, the company has designed, developed and built cars for the
Australian market. But now, increasing numbers of its models are finding
themselves being snapped up, under other badges, in many world markets.
Recently, the incredible Holden Monaro grunt car became the re-born
Pontiac GTO. Now, the Holden VE Commodore will be sold in the USA as the
Pontiac G8. The just-released VE Ute (utility/pick-up) is expected to follow.
General Motors Asia Pacific president Nick Reilly recently confirmed that the
Australian production plan included export models that had not yet been
announced, before referring to multiple US export models. Left-hand-drive
versions are currently being tested in the US.
So if you have those valuable skills needed in designing, developing or
building cars, there may be a spot for you in the burgeoning Australia car industry.
Call LIA today and accelerate your chances.

Show Us the Money!!
Australian government research found more than 54 per cent of Aussies
surveyed had used a financial advisor. Eighty two per cent of people
surveyed said their preferred sources of financial information would
be an advisor, eclipsing all other sources including accountants and banks.
The shortage of planners continues to affect the industry as demand
surges. Investment and Financial Services Association chief executive
Richard Gilbert told a superannuation conference in March that a supply
crisis was a major problem in delivering advice.
There are around 16,000 full time financial planners in Australia.
With all these high paid jobs around, we need plenty more.
